The Delhi blast part of larger terror plan has sent shockwaves across the national capital, with investigators linking it to a possible Republic Day attack near the Red Fort. The powerful explosion on Monday evening killed 12 people and injured several others, triggering massive security operations across Delhi.
According to official sources, the suspects had conducted a recce of the Red Fort and planned to strike during the Republic Day celebrations. The white Hyundai i20 used in the blast was parked for 11 days at Haryana’s Al-Falah Medical College. The suspected bomber, Dr Umar Nabi, allegedly detonated the bomb prematurely while fleeing increased security checks.
Officials said the explosion appeared accidental, as the device was incomplete and failed to cause full damage. The Delhi blast part of larger terror plan has prompted an intense alert, with Delhi Police, paramilitary forces, and the Intelligence Bureau jointly reviewing security.
Sniffer dogs, anti-sabotage teams, and metal detectors have been deployed at markets, metro stations, and tourist spots.
