Delhi Metro Election Services Extended for MCD By-Polls; DMRC Deploys Anti-Smog Guns

Delhi Metro trains starting early for MCD by-elections with anti-smog guns deployed at construction sites.

Delhi Metro Election Services will start earlier than usual to support polling teams during the MCD by-elections. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced that trains will begin at 4:00 am on both the polling day and the counting day. This move aims to give staff and officials a smooth and timely travel option.

On November 30, trains will run every 30 minutes until 6:00 am. After that, normal Sunday timings will continue. DMRC will also run the last trains at 11:30 pm, which is 30 minutes later than the regular schedule. On December 3, Delhi Metro Election Services will again start at 4:00 am and follow the weekday schedule after 6:00 am.

These by-elections come after 11 councillors became MLAs in the February 2025 Delhi Assembly polls and one leader won a Lok Sabha seat. A total of 12 wards will go to the polls. Around 132 candidates, including many women, filed nominations. The silence period started on November 28 at 5:30 pm.

In a separate update, DMRC increased efforts to fight pollution across the city. The corporation deployed 82 anti-smog guns at its construction sites. These machines help reduce dust and improve air quality near metro work zones. DMRC said it adopted these anti-pollution steps even before official rules required them.

Earlier this week, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi issued 28 challans worth ₹3.8 lakh against some metro-related sites. DMRC clarified that only a small part of the area falls under its control and said its teams follow all environmental rules.
