Dense fog disrupted Kolkata airport flight operations on Sunday, affecting arrivals and departures across several routes. Poor visibility conditions continued for the second consecutive day, impacting multiple airports nationwide, including Delhi.
Several flights from Kolkata departed late, while many incoming flights also arrived behind schedule. Airport sources confirmed that multiple services were cancelled due to dense fog conditions.
Three flights from Ranchi to Kolkata were cancelled on Sunday morning. Two of these flights had already remained suspended until December 31. An IndiGo flight scheduled to depart Ranchi at 7.30 am was cancelled due to poor visibility.
An IndiGo flight from Kolkata to Ranchi scheduled at 5.55 am was also cancelled. Another IndiGo flight from Chandigarh, expected to land in Kolkata at 9.10 am, did not operate. Flights between Kolkata and Ahmedabad were also affected.
Several services to major cities operated with delays throughout the day, causing inconvenience to passengers. Many travellers reported missed connections and uncertainty over refunds.
A passenger travelling from Ranchi to Bagdogra via Kolkata shared his experience on social media. He said his flight was cancelled without timely refund updates. Due to the cancellation, his onward flight also had to be cancelled.
Airport authorities advised passengers to check flight status before travelling, as fog conditions continue to impact operations.
