The first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections turned chaotic on Saturday as violence and clashes erupted across Lakhisarai. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha faced a hostile crowd that hurled slippers, stones, and even cow dung at his car. Angry RJD supporters shouted slogans and blocked his convoy.
Soon after, Sinha got into a heated roadside argument with RJD MLC Ajay Singh, a moment captured on NDTV cameras. Their cars blocked each other, sparking a loud exchange that began with “Who are you?” and escalated into personal accusations. Sinha accused Singh of being drunk and demanded a breathalyzer test, alleging he was “reeking of liquor.” Singh fired back, claiming the Deputy CM was abusing power and spreading lies.
Sinha told NDTV that Singh and his aides were creating chaos near a polling booth in Nadiyama. He urged the Election Commission to investigate. Earlier, the Deputy CM had also accused police of inaction, calling the district police chief “cowardly.”
Sinha, the sitting MLA from Lakhisarai, faces a triangular fight against Congress’s Amaresh Kumar and Jan Suraaj’s Suraj Kumar.
