US rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs has started serving his prison sentence in New Jersey after being convicted of prostitution-related crimes.
The 55-year-old music mogul will spend four years and two months behind bars at Fort Dix, a low-security federal prison about 130 kilometers south of New York. The facility is known for its drug treatment and rehabilitation programs.
Combs’s legal team requested the transfer to Fort Dix. According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, he will remain there until May 8, 2028.
Authorities arrested Combs in September 2024. In July, a jury found him guilty of transporting people across state lines for prostitution. However, he was cleared of the more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.
Before his sentencing, Combs tearfully apologized in court. He said he was “truly sorry” for his actions and called his behavior “disgusting, shameful, and sick.” He also expressed regret to his family and victims.
The court considered the time Combs had already spent in a Brooklyn detention center. He has since filed appeals against both his conviction and sentence, hoping to reduce or overturn his prison term.
