DRDO’s Military Combat Parachute System Achieves Breakthrough with High-Altitude Test
India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully tested its indigenously developed Military Combat Parachute System at an altitude of 32,000 feet, marking a significant milestone in the country’s defence capabilities. According to the Defence Ministry, this is the only parachute system currently in operational use by the Indian Armed Forces capable of being deployed above 25,000 feet. The system is designed for high-altitude combat jumps, offering enhanced safety, precision, and performance for special forces and paratroopers. The successful test demonstrates India’s growing self-reliance in critical defence technologies under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. The parachute system is expected to significantly improve operational readiness for missions in high-altitude terrains such as the Himalayas. Defence officials praised DRDO’s achievement, highlighting the importance of indigenous innovation in meeting the evolving needs of modern warfare and reducing dependence on foreign defence equipment.
