Drunk driving in Hyderabad: over 800 booked in weekend checks
Drunk driving in Hyderabad led to action against more than 800 motorists during special weekend enforcement drives conducted by police in Cyberabad and Hyderabad.
Police officials said the checks were carried out at multiple locations to curb drunken driving and improve road safety. Offenders were found riding two-wheelers and driving cars under the influence of alcohol.
Those booked were subjected to breathalyser tests, and cases were registered as per the law. Many vehicles were seized, and the accused were asked to appear before court.
Officials said repeated violations of drunk driving in Hyderabad have become a serious safety concern. Accidents caused by intoxicated drivers continue to pose a threat to pedestrians and other road users.
Police urged the public to act responsibly and avoid driving after consuming alcohol. They said strict enforcement would continue on weekends and during late-night hours.
Authorities added that awareness campaigns would also be intensified to highlight the dangers of drunk driving and the legal consequences involved.
