The EOU cyber fraud intelligence unit in Bihar has been formed to take strict action against rising online scams and cybercrime cases. The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) created this special team to collect intelligence and trace cyber criminals more quickly. The EOU cyber fraud intelligence unit in Bihar will work with telecom companies, banks, and central agencies to stop fraud networks.
The unit focuses on tracking suspicious mobile numbers, IMEI numbers, URLs, and fake websites used for cheating people. Officials said thousands of mobile numbers and devices linked to cyber fraud have already been blocked. The team also monitors SIM box fraud and phishing websites that steal personal data.
To improve investigations, the unit uses the national cybercrime reporting portal and advanced GIS-based software. These tools help officers identify patterns and locate fraudsters faster. Under a special drive called “Cyber Prahar,” police arrested many cyber criminals across Bihar.
Officials revealed that the state received a large number of cybercrime calls and complaints this year. Victims lost crores of rupees to online fraud. However, authorities managed to freeze part of the stolen money.
Police urged people to stay alert, avoid sharing OTPs, and report cyber fraud immediately.
