A major twist has emerged in the sensational Mulakalacheruvu fake liquor case that shook Andhra Pradesh. Former minister and YSRCP leader Jogi Ramesh filed a petition in the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Friday, seeking a CBI probe into the case.
The move comes after allegations surfaced about his links with Janardhan Rao, the key accused in the fake liquor scam. Ramesh denied any connection and demanded a transparent investigation by a central agency to uncover the truth.
Earlier, a fake liquor manufacturing unit was busted in Mulakalacheruvu of Annamayya district, causing a statewide uproar. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu responded by forming a Special Investigation Team (SIT) for a detailed probe.
Excise officials have seized fake liquor and materials worth ₹1.75 crore so far. Out of 23 identified suspects, 16 have been arrested and are currently in judicial custody. The case has sparked political tensions between the TDP and YSRCP leadership.
