Fake MBBS Degree Scam: How a ₹30 Lakh Admission Fraud Shocked Bihar and Punjab

Fake MBBS Degree Scam investigation report

The Fake MBBS Degree Scam has exposed a shocking admission racket operating across four states. A man from Muzaffarpur paid ₹30 lakh for an MBBS admission linked to a medical institute in Bathinda, Punjab. He was promised that his degree would be issued by ADESKH University, Bathinda.

When the investigating officer, Prem Ranjan Kumar, visited the university to check the degree’s validity, he received only vague replies. The Medical Council of India later declared the degree fake. This raised suspicion about the role of the university, and the police will now send a formal notice seeking clarification. The IO said several people appear to be involved in the racket.

The case began when Sushant Punj filed an FIR stating that two men offered him MBBS admission for ₹30 lakh through their institute in Juran Chhapra. He paid the amount in 2017 and received the MBBS degree in 2022.

When Sushant applied for medical registration, the MCI declared his degree fraudulent. The accused later gave him six cheques of ₹5 lakh each, but all bounced. The shock of the scam caused Sushant’s elder brother to suffer a fatal heart attack.
