Ferozepur Committee Reviews Senior Citizens Welfare during a detailed district-level meeting held on November 28, 2025. Officials gathered under the chairmanship of SDM Ferozepur-cum-Assistant Commissioner (General) Gurdev Singh Dhamm to strengthen safety, facilities, and welfare services for elderly residents. The Social Services Department presented a full report on security arrangements and outlined steps taken to protect vulnerable senior citizens. Moreover, officials highlighted ongoing healthcare initiatives, such as regular medical camps that address essential geriatric needs. The committee also finalised plans to organise dedicated camps for issuing Senior Citizen Cards, enabling smoother access to government benefits.
In addition, the meeting evaluated the functioning of Old Age Homes. Officials discussed targeted improvements designed to enhance daily care, infrastructure, and emergency support. The committee reviewed the status of pending cases under the Senior Citizens Act, 2007 to ensure quick resolution.
The Education Department shared updates on school-based programs that teach children the importance of respecting and supporting the elderly. These campaigns aim to build a compassionate culture rooted in dignity and responsibility.
Addressing the committee, SDM Gurdev Singh Dhamm said, “Senior citizens are the valuable heritage of our society. We remain committed to delivering every welfare scheme effectively, ensuring their health, dignity, and security.”
Senior district officials—including Simranjit Singh PCS, Rajbir Singh PCS, DSSO Kanwaljit Singh, Dr Harpreet Kaur, Harish Monga, P.D. Sharma, Harish Goyal, Makhan Lal, and Usha Rani—attended the meeting. Their discussions reinforced the Punjab Government’s coordinated effort to create a strong support system for the elderly population in Ferozepur.
