The Ferozepur-Patti Rail Link Sanctioned project marks another major step toward improving Punjab’s rail network. The Railway Ministry has approved the 25.72-km-long Ferozepur-Patti corridor, with a total budget of Rs 764 crore, including Rs 165 crore for land acquisition.

Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Bittu announced the Ferozepur-Patti Rail Link Sanctioned plan, highlighting its strategic and economic importance. Officials confirmed that Punjab’s Chief Secretary has been asked to start the land acquisition process immediately.

Once completed, the new rail line will cut the rail distance between Ferozepur and Amritsar by nearly 98 km. The project will not only enhance regional passenger and freight connectivity but will also link the border district directly with major ports in Gujarat. This development strengthens both trade and defense mobility, benefitting the state’s economy and border infrastructure.
