Meteorologist Aarti from Nalanda has created history by becoming the first Bihari woman to visit Antarctica. She achieved this rare milestone after joining India’s 45th Antarctic Winter Expedition. With this success, Aarti has brought pride not only to her family but also to the entire state of Bihar.
Aarti works with the India Meteorological Department (IMD). From the beginning of her career, she showed strong interest in weather science and polar research. While reading about Antarctic missions during her early training days, she decided to aim for the toughest destination on Earth.
The selection process was highly challenging. Authorities conducted medical and psychological tests at AIIMS Delhi. After that, Aarti completed special training for extreme cold, emergency handling, and survival skills. Her dedication and discipline helped her secure a place in the expedition team.
In Antarctica, Aarti will support weather observations and scientific research. She hopes her journey encourages young girls to dream big and choose careers in science.
By becoming the first Bihari woman to visit Antarctica, Aarti has proved that hard work and determination can break every barrier.
