The groom’s brother was among the dead. He fell ill the next morning and died during treatment. Four other men from nearby areas also died within a short span.
Police and excise officials reached the village and began an inquiry. Villagers suspect spurious liquor, but authorities have not confirmed the cause yet. Officers continue to collect samples and question locals as the investigation moves forward.
