Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi on December 2 sharply criticised the BJP for what he called a dismissive approach toward the ongoing winter session of Parliament. He accused the ruling party of ignoring key issues raised by opposition parties and excluding them from the official agenda for the second day in a row.

Gogoi questioned the purpose of pre-session meetings, calling them “symbolic” and ineffective, as concerns raised by parties are not reflected in the daily business of the House. He asked why the BJP was “taking Parliament for granted” and accused the government of evading meaningful debate.

The winter session, one of the shortest in recent years with only 15 working days, has drawn criticism for limiting discussion on pressing national matters. Gogoi further asked whether the BJP was “deliberately seeding chaos” in Parliament.

A day earlier, he accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of “hijacking” parliamentary proceedings by blocking debates sought by the opposition.
