Prime Minister Narendra Modi has penned the foreword for the Indian edition of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s memoir, I Am Giorgia — My Roots, My Principles. In his note, Modi praised Meloni as a “patriot and outstanding contemporary leader” whose personal and political journey deeply resonates with Indians.
Drawing a parallel to his popular radio program, Modi described Meloni’s autobiography as her “Mann Ki Baat.” He said it was a “great honour” to contribute to the book, which will soon be launched in India by Rupa Publications. Modi expressed his admiration for Meloni’s “inspiring and historic” journey, stating it would be “well received in India as a refreshing story of an outstanding contemporary political leader.”
In his foreword, Modi reflected on over a decade of engaging with world leaders and emphasized that Meloni’s life embodies “timeless truths” of resilience and rootedness. He noted that her commitment to defending cultural heritage while interacting with the global community mirrors India’s values.
Originally published in Italy, Meloni’s memoir traces her personal life, political rise, and family influences. She shares insights about her childhood in Rome’s Garbatella neighborhood, the impact of her mother Anna, sister Arianna, grandparents Maria and Gianni, and the absence of her father. The book also highlights her political journey—from teenage activism to ministerial roles, leading Fratelli d’Italia, and ultimately becoming Italy’s Prime Minister.
Beyond politics, the memoir explores Meloni’s personal life, including her partner Andrea, daughter Ginevra, reflections on motherhood, faith, and identity, providing a candid portrait of a leader whose rise has drawn global attention.
