Hamas has carried out public executions in Gaza as it fights to tighten its control after a US-brokered ceasefire with Israel. Videos shared online show gunmen from Hamas shooting eight blindfolded men in the streets. The group accused them of working with Israel but gave no evidence.
Crowds shouted religious chants while the men, beaten and kneeling, were killed. Hamas said the victims were criminals and collaborators. The group is now moving against local clans and armed gangs that gained power when Israeli forces took over parts of Gaza.
Hamas police have returned to patrol Gaza City. They clashed with rival groups accused of stealing aid and exploiting civilians. Some people welcomed the show of force, saying it brought back order. Others feared more violence and revenge killings.
US President Donald Trump said Hamas had killed “very bad gangs,” but warned that the group must soon disarm or face US action. Israel also insists the war will not end until Hamas is dismantled. Talks continue on forming an international body to govern Gaza.
