Former Punjab minister Harmail Singh Tohra passed away at the age of 77 on Sunday evening. He had been battling a prolonged illness and died at a private hospital in Mohali. Harmail Singh Tohra death marks the end of a notable political journey in Punjab.
Tohra was the son-in-law of Akali stalwart late Gurcharan Singh Tohra. He won the Dakala Assembly constituency in 1997 and served as the PWD minister in the Akali government. His political journey saw a brief shift when he joined the Aam Aadmi Party in 2016, before returning to the Shiromani Akali Dal in 2019.
His last rites will take place on September 23 at his native village, Tohra. Harmail Singh Tohra death has been mourned across political circles in Punjab.
