The HC seeks Siswan activity details as the Punjab and Haryana High Court asked the state to present full information on all non-forest and non-agricultural activities in Siswan village of Mohali. The bench heard multiple petitions linked to land delisting and stressed the need for clarity. Judges asked the Chief Administrator of GMADA to file an affidavit that lists every commercial, residential or private activity in the area. The court said the state must also submit a map that covers the entire division, including the range, block and compartments. The HC seeks Siswan activity details to understand whether anyone used forest land for purposes that violate the law.
The bench also directed GMADA’s executive officer to file a separate affidavit. It must document all constructions standing on delisted or forest land that do not relate to forest or agricultural work. The judges noted that the government delisted 169.22 hectares from the Punjab Land Preservation Act but the related 2010 notification left many issues unclear. So, they asked the state to also submit minutes from the 2010 meeting.
One petitioner, Siswan Eco Reserve Private Limited, challenged a GMADA notice that ordered stoppage of operations at a restaurant near Siswan Dam. The petitioner said authorities ignored due process and pushed demolition without giving a fair chance to respond.
