With heavy rains accompanied by thunder and lightning lashing several districts, including Hyderabad, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has issued urgent instructions to officials across all departments to remain on high alert.
The CM directed authorities to evacuate residents from old and dilapidated houses in the city and shift them to safer locations. People living in low-lying areas should be moved to rehabilitation centers as a precautionary measure, he said.
Revanth emphasized the need for coordination among GHMC, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Board, SDRF, Fire Services, Traffic, and Police departments to prevent any crisis. He specifically instructed officials to keep a close watch on causeways, culverts, and water flows over streams, ensuring no casualties occur.
Further, he asked the Irrigation Department to take preventive steps to safeguard tanks and ponds that may be at risk of breaches due to overflowing water. The CM stressed proactive action to protect lives and property.
