Howrah–Jodhpur Express gold snatching case involving arrest of GRP station chief

The Howrah–Jodhpur Express gold snatching case has shocked Bihar after police arrested a senior Government Railway Police (GRP) officer. Rajesh Kumar Singh, the station house officer of Gaya rail police station, was arrested late at night near the railway SP office. Police later produced him in court, which sent him to jail.

The incident took place on November 21 on the Howrah–Jodhpur Express. A passenger carrying gold as a courier alleged that officials stopped him during a train check and took away about one kilogram of gold. The value of the seized gold is estimated at over ₹1.4 crore.

Following the complaint, senior officials formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT). The probe revealed the alleged involvement of the GRP station chief along with four railway policemen and two civilians. Police have already named all accused in the case.

Investigators are now searching for the remaining suspects. Railway police officers say the investigation is moving fast and strict action will be taken against everyone involved.

The Howrah–Jodhpur Express gold snatching case has raised serious questions about passenger safety and corruption within railway security. Authorities have assured passengers that such crimes will not be tolerated.
