Telangana Minister Komatireddy Venkata Reddy announced that the Hyderabad–Vijayawada National Highway (NH-65) will be widened into an 8-lane expressway, with set to commence in February 2026. The minister stated that the tender process is nearing completion, and preparatory work is underway.
The project will also focus on road safety, identifying 17 black spots along the route and constructing flyovers to ease traffic congestion. Once completed, the travel time between Hyderabad and Vijayawada is expected to reduce to just 2 hours, significantly benefiting commuters, businesses, and logistics.
Minister Komatireddy further highlighted that the Central government is supportive of a 230 km greenfield highway linking Future City to Amaravati. The highway projects are part of the state’s broader plan to improve infrastructure, reduce travel time, and boost economic development, making road transport faster, safer, and more efficient across Telangana.
