Senior IAS officer Santosh Verma from Madhya Pradesh has again triggered statewide uproar after making a controversial remark against the Brahmin community during a recent Ajaks meeting. Verma, who was unanimously elected as the new state president of the SC-ST Officers’ Association, said he would not accept the idea of “one reservation per family” unless “a Brahmin gives his daughter” to his son. The statement went viral, sparking protests and demands for FIR and dismissal. Although Verma later apologised, the controversy continues to intensify.

This is not Verma’s first brush with scandal. In 2021, he was arrested past midnight after being accused of forging signatures of Special Judge Vijendra Rawat to secure a promotion. An FIR was filed at Indore’s MG Road police station, leading to his suspension and months of jail time before securing bail. Months earlier, he was embroiled in a dispute involving a woman who accused him of cheating and exploitation after allegedly living together under the belief that he was unmarried.

The latest controversy has reignited debates about caste politics in Madhya Pradesh, with opposition parties demanding strict action. With multiple scandals now tied to his name, Verma’s administrative future appears increasingly uncertain.
