IBM has announced a major plan to skill 5 million Indians in AI, cybersecurity and quantum computing by 2030. The initiative aims to give students and adult learners access to advanced tech education and job-ready skills.
The IBM to skill 5 million Indians in AI, cybersecurity and quantum by 2030 programme will be delivered through IBM’s online learning platform, SkillsBuild. The platform includes more than 1,000 courses in emerging tech areas and workplace skills to help people become future-ready.
IBM said it will expand its training efforts across schools, universities, and vocational training centres. The company will also partner with national education authorities to offer hands-on learning, internships, and faculty training in advanced technologies.
Arvind Krishna, IBM’s Chairman and CEO, said India has the talent and ambition to become a world leader in AI and quantum technology. He added that building fluency in these fields will boost economic growth and scientific progress.
The programme will also support AI education for senior secondary students with tailored curricula and teaching resources. IBM’s effort in India is part of a global push to train 30 million people in new tech skills by 2030.
