India France strategic partnership was elevated to a “special global strategic partnership” during French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the collaboration reflects deep trust and will drive “global stability and progress.” The leaders committed to boosting cooperation in innovation, trade, technology, and cultural exchanges.
The two countries launched the India-France Year of Innovation 2026, fostering collaboration among industries, start-ups, students, and researchers. Key projects include an Indo-French Centre for AI in Health, a Digital Science and Technology Centre, and a National Centre of Excellence for Skilling in Aeronautics. Partnerships will also expand in biotechnology, critical minerals, and advanced materials.
Economic engagement received a boost with a double taxation agreement, industrial collaborations like a high-altitude helicopter assembly line, and promotion of clean energy and sustainable development. Both nations emphasized market access, joint research, and academic mobility to strengthen long-term cooperation.
Cultural links will deepen through the National Maritime Heritage Complex at Lothal and a Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre in France. The visit continues the “Horizon 2047” roadmap to guide cooperation in technology, innovation, and people-to-people ties.
India France strategic partnership marks a milestone in bilateral relations, reinforcing shared goals of progress, innovation, and global cooperation.
