According to 2024 statistics, Ireland leads as the top exporter of pharmaceutical products to the United States, generating approximately $865.7 billion in revenue . Following Ireland are Switzerland ($19.3B), Germany ($17.4B), Singapore ($16.7B), and India ($13.6B). Other notable exporters include Belgium ($12B), another country $9.5B, the UK ($7.6B), and a category of smaller exporters totaling $7.4B.
India ranks 5th among US pharma suppliers, contributing roughly 6% of the total US pharmaceutical imports. Despite being behind countries like Ireland, Switzerland, and Germany, India plays a crucial role in the US pharma market, particularly in generics and biosimilars. The country’s strong presence highlights its growing importance in global pharmaceutical supply chains.
With US policies such as tariffs on imported drugs, India’s position as a major exporter could face significant challenges, potentially affecting revenues and necessitating strategic adjustments by Indian pharma companies.
