India Repatriates 67 Pakistani Prisoners via Attari-Wagah Border

India repatriated 67 Pakistani prisoners across Attari-Wagah border crossing

India repatriated 67 Pakistani prisoners to Pakistan through the Attari-Wagah joint check-post on Tuesday. These included 53 fishermen and 14 civilians who had been lodged in different Indian jails. The repatriation took place after they completed their sentences.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed the development and highlighted India’s consistent stand on humanitarian grounds. India repatriated 67 Pakistani prisoners with the aim of reducing hardships for those who have served their terms.

In its statement, the MEA further urged Pakistan to expedite the release and repatriation of all Indian prisoners, including fishermen, who are still in Pakistani custody. The Indian government said the welfare of its citizens held abroad remains a top priority.

Officials also clarified that similar exchanges had taken place in the past. The MEA stressed that India will continue to push for early release and safe return of all Indian prisoners from Pakistan.

This step once again underlines the need for both countries to address humanitarian concerns despite strained ties. India repatriated 67 Pakistani prisoners, while it continues to seek a quicker process for its citizens held across the border.
