India will examine the impact of the new mutual defence pact between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. A key clause in the pact states that any aggression against one country will be treated as an aggression against both.
This agreement was signed after Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman during his state visit to Riyadh. India responded by saying the pact formalizes a long-standing relationship between the two nations.
The Indian government confirmed it was aware of the pact. It will assess the implications for national security and regional stability. The Ministry of External Affairs stated that India remains committed to protecting its national interests.
The mutual defence pact strengthens the partnership between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, which has lasted for nearly 80 years. The agreement focuses on shared strategic interests, Islamic solidarity, and defense cooperation. It aims to enhance security and deter any aggression.
This pact comes amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, especially after the Pahalgam terror attack and India’s counterstrike, Operation Sindoor. India’s ties with Saudi Arabia, however, continue to grow stronger, with India now being Saudi Arabia’s second-largest trading partner.
