India-UAE Trade Relations: Piyush Goyal’s Two-Day Visit

Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal is on a two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from September 18–19, 2025, to strengthen bilateral economic ties. He is co-chairing the 13th India-UAE High-Level Task Force on Investments, where both countries will review the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) that came into effect in 2022.

The visit focuses on enhancing trade, resolving tax-related issues through updates to the Double Taxation Treaty, and exploring investment opportunities in emerging sectors. Goyal will also lead a roundtable with the UAE’s Foreign Trade Minister, engaging private sector leaders under the UAE-India Business Council.

Since CEPA’s implementation, trade between India and the UAE has grown significantly—from USD 43.3 billion in FY21 to USD 83.7 billion in FY24. Both nations aim to reach USD 100 billion in non-oil trade by 2030.

This visit is seen as a strategic move to deepen economic cooperation, attract investments, and promote innovation and joint ventures in key sectors like space, finance, and maritime.
