India Unveils First Indigenous Microprocessor Chip at SEMICON India 2025

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the SEMICON India Summit 2025 , marking a major milestone for India’s semiconductor industry . During the event, the first “ Made in India” microprocessor chip, Vikram 32-bit processor , was presented to the Prime Minister by Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw . The chip was developed by ISRO Semiconductor Laboratory , showcasing India’s growing capabilities in advanced technology and electronics manufacturing.

Highlighting the global demand for semiconductors , Prime Minister Modi emphasized that India is emerging as a key partner in the international semiconductor ecosystem . He noted that several countries are now collaborating with India in this critical sector, reflecting confidence in India’s innovation and manufacturing potential .

The launch of Vikram 32 is expected to boost domestic electronics manufacturing, strengthen technological self-reliance, and inspire further research and development in microprocessors and semiconductors across the country.
