Veteran Indian women’s cricketer Gouher Sultana has announced her retirement from all formats of the game. The 37-year-old left-arm spinner shared the news on social media, confirming her immediate withdrawal from international and domestic cricket.
Sultana made her international debut in 2008 against Pakistan in an ODI and went on to become one of India’s dependable bowlers in the women’s team. Over the course of her career, she played 50 One-Day Internationals , taking 66 wickets , and featured in 37 T20 Internationals , where she claimed 29 wickets.
Her last international appearance came in 2014, also against Pakistan in a T20 match. Known for her accuracy and control, Sultana’s contributions significantly strengthened India’s spin attack during her tenure. Fans and fellow cricketers have expressed admiration for her achievements and extended warm wishes for her post-cricket journey.
