Indian Workers in Russia: Demand Rising Fast

Russia is showing strong interest in hiring Indian workers. The demand is growing quickly, especially in the machinery and electronics industries. Construction and textile companies already employ a good number of Indians, and the trend is increasing.

To support this growth, the Indian Embassy in Moscow announced that it will expand consular services, including faster passport processing. Ambassador Vinay Kumar said in an interview that Russian companies are recruiting Indians under local laws because India has skilled manpower.

Currently, about 14,000 Indians live in Russia, and nearly 4,500 are students. Reports suggest that Russia could face a shortage of around 3.1 million workers by 2030. This shortage is linked to the Ukraine war and the lack of interest among young Russians in industrial jobs.

To address this, Russia plans to bring in up to one million skilled Indian workers by the end of this year. Experts say this development is significant, as Western countries continue to impose restrictions on migration, while Russia is opening its doors to Indian talent.
