Romania may be best known as the land of Dracula, but it is also a land full of opportunities. The country is opening its doors to non-EU/EEA citizens, including Indians, who dream of living and working among castles, misty mountains, and stunning landscapes.
A Romanian Permanent Residency (PR) lets you live, work, and study in the country for the long term. To qualify, you must first stay in Romania for at least five continuous years on a valid temporary residence permit. During this time, you need to show a stable income of at least €750 (around ₹77,800) per month, valid health insurance, and proof of legal accommodation. Applicants also need to demonstrate basic knowledge of the Romanian language and must not pose a risk to national security.
The application process is straightforward. First, collect the necessary documents, including your passport, residence permit, proof of income, and health insurance. Submit your application to the Romanian embassy in India and pay the €14 (₹1,447) administration fee. Processing can take up to six months.
Once approved, you will receive a PR card valid for 5–10 years. Family members can also apply, but additional rules apply, so it’s best to check the official website before applying.
