Low-cost carrier IndiGo on Friday lost its appeal against a Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) order imposing penalties for alleged lapses in pilot training. The DGCA had, in September 2025, imposed a fine of ₹20 lakh each on the airline’s Director of Flight Operations and Director of Training.
The regulator had accused IndiGo of failing to ensure the use of qualified simulators for pilot training at certain airports, which is mandatory under civil aviation safety norms. The fines were part of the DGCA’s enforcement action to uphold training standards and ensure flight safety.
IndiGo had challenged the order, arguing that the alleged lapses were procedural and did not compromise safety. However, the appellate authority upheld the DGCA’s decision, emphasizing that strict adherence to prescribed training protocols is essential for maintaining operational standards and the safety of passengers.
The airline said it would continue to comply with all regulatory requirements and review its training processes to prevent future violations.
