The ISSF Junior World Cup Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun 2025 was inaugurated at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range in New Delhi. V.K. Dhall, Vice President of NRAI, formally declared the event open, with 208 young athletes from 18 nations in attendance. The ceremony was graced by dignitaries including S.B.K. Singh, Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, Peter Underhill, and K. Sultan Singh.
The opening showcased India’s cultural heritage with Ganesh Vandana, Bhangra, and Dandiya performances. A vibrant finale set an energetic tone for the week-long competition. Athletes and officials were welcomed warmly, highlighting the importance of friendship, sportsmanship, and international camaraderie.
Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo praised India for hosting the first-ever ISSF Junior World Cup domestically. He emphasized that junior events help discover future Olympians. Peter Underhill lauded the world-class facilities and the NRAI’s efforts in promoting youth shooting. S.B.K. Singh encouraged participants to build resilience and cherish the spirit of competition.
India made a strong start in the competition by sweeping the women’s 50m Rifle Prone podium. Medals were also won in the men’s event. Attention now shifts to Friday’s men’s and women’s 10m Air Pistol finals, alongside Skeet qualification, as the tournament progresses.
