Jaishankar, Anita Anand Meet at G7 to Strengthen India-Canada Ties
India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, met his Canadian counterpart, Anita Anand, on the sidelines of the G7 summit to discuss strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. The meeting comes a month after Anand’s visit to India, during which both nations unveiled a comprehensive roadmap aimed at boosting cooperation in trade, critical minerals, and energy.
During the discussions, Jaishankar and Anand explored ways to enhance economic partnerships, technology collaboration, and people-to-people ties, while addressing challenges in trade and investment flows. Both sides emphasized the importance of strategic engagement and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a stable and mutually beneficial relationship.
The meeting is seen as part of a broader effort to rebuild India-Canada ties after a period of diplomatic strains. Officials highlighted that ongoing dialogues will focus on creating long-term frameworks for collaboration in infrastructure, energy transition, and critical sectors that are vital for both economies.
