External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar launched a strong attack on Pakistan during his address at the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York. He linked major international terror attacks, including the recent Pahalgam attack that killed 26 tourists, back to Pakistan.
Mr Jaishankar said that when countries make terrorism a state policy, run terror hubs on a large scale, and glorify terrorists in public, the world must condemn such actions without hesitation. He described Pakistan as the “epicentre of global terrorism”, responsible for decades of violence.
“India has faced this challenge since independence. For decades, global terror attacks trace back to that one country. The UN’s list of terrorists is filled with its nationals,” he told world leaders.
Referring to Operation Sindoor, Jaishankar said India exercised its right to defend its people and brought those behind the attacks to justice. He urged the global community to choke terror financing, sanction terrorists, and keep pressure on the entire terror network.
Earlier, India’s UN diplomat Petal Gahlot also hit back at Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif for glorifying terrorism. She said Pakistan’s military had once pleaded with India to stop fighting, calling Mr Sharif’s claims of victory false.
