Jaishankar to Hold Key Talks with Lavrov Ahead of SCO Prime Ministers’ Meeting
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is set to meet Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow to review bilateral ties and discuss key regional and global issues. The meeting comes ahead of the Council of Prime Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), scheduled for November 18, where Jaishankar will lead the Indian delegation. India and Russia are expected to deliberate on ongoing defence cooperation, energy partnerships, and trade expansion, with a particular focus on boosting connectivity through the North-South Transport Corridor. The discussions will also cover the evolving geopolitical landscape, including stability in Central Asia, counterterrorism cooperation, and the impact of global conflicts on regional security. Jaishankar’s visit underscores India’s continued engagement with Russia amid shifting global alignments. The bilateral talks and the SCO meeting are likely to reinforce India’s strategic priorities within the Eurasian region and deepen long-standing ties between New Delhi and Moscow.
