Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Party has released its first list of 51 candidates for the Bihar Assembly elections. The Jan Suraj Bihar candidate list reflects careful social engineering. Out of 51, 17 belong to the Extremely Backward Classes (EBCs), including 16 Hindus and one Muslim. The Other Backward Classes (OBCs) have 11 candidates, while Muslims have 7—about 16% of the total, matching their population share.
The party also gave tickets to 9 candidates from the general category and one Scheduled Tribe representative from Valmiki Nagar. The Jan Suraj Bihar candidate list highlights diversity, featuring mathematicians, professors, retired officers, and doctors. Notably, mathematician KC Sinha, author of popular textbooks, will contest from Kumhrar in Patna.
Jan Suraj plans to announce names for all 243 constituencies within days. Bihar will vote on November 6 and 11, with results on November 14.
