Karnataka Congress Stages Protest After Court Relief in National Herald Case
The Karnataka Congress held a protest against the Central government after a Delhi court declined to take cognisance of the Enforcement Directorate’s prosecution complaint in the National Herald case. Party leaders described the court’s decision as proof that what they called a “BJP conspiracy” had failed.
On Tuesday, the Delhi court refused to proceed with the complaint filed by the Enforcement Directorate against senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, along with five others. Following the court’s decision, Congress workers and leaders in Karnataka organised demonstrations, accusing the Centre of misusing central agencies to target opposition leaders.
Party representatives said the verdict reaffirmed their faith in the judiciary and demanded an apology from the BJP for what they claimed was political harassment. They also stated that the Congress would continue to oppose what it described as authoritarian actions by the Central government.
The protest remained peaceful, with party workers raising slogans and holding placards in support of their leaders.
