Karnataka to Mandate Fully Digital e-Stamping Soon
Karnataka is set to make Digital e-Stamping (DeS) mandatory across the State as part of its transition toward fully online and secure documentation processes. The new system will allow citizens to generate stamp papers digitally, eliminating the need for physical stamp vendors or intermediaries.
The initiative follows amendments that give full legal validity to digital stamps and electronic signatures, ensuring that property transactions, rental agreements, affidavits, and other registered documents can be completed entirely online. Payments for stamp duty will also be processed digitally, with documents stored securely for easy retrieval.
Officials stated that mandatory e-Stamping will significantly reduce fraud, counterfeiting, and duplication associated with traditional stamp papers. The system is expected to enhance efficiency, transparency, and traceability in legal and commercial transactions, marking a major step in Karnataka’s shift toward a fully digital governance framework.
