King Charles has removed all royal titles from his younger brother, Prince Andrew, and asked him to leave his Windsor home. The king wants to protect the royal family’s image after Andrew’s links to Jeffrey Epstein drew public anger.
Andrew, 65, will now use the name Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. He must also give up his Royal Lodge mansion at Windsor and move to a smaller home on the Sandringham estate.
Buckingham Palace said the king made this decision after long discussions with other senior royals, including Prince William. They said their thoughts are with the victims of abuse.
Once seen as a brave naval officer and war hero, Andrew lost respect after his friendship with Epstein became public. Although he denies all accusations, the controversy has severely hurt his reputation.
Charles, who is still receiving cancer treatment, decided to act firmly to protect the monarchy. Many royal experts say this is one of the strongest actions taken against a royal family member in modern times.
