Kishanganj Army Camp Land Protest: Farmers Fear Loss of Livelihood

Kishanganj army camp land protest as farmers oppose land acquisition

The Kishanganj army camp land protest has intensified in Bihar as farmers and local leaders oppose the proposed Army camp on fertile agricultural land. AIMIM MLA Tausif Alam says the plan will severely damage the future of farming families. He claims hundreds of farmers depend on this land for survival.

Tausif Alam said the government plans to acquire around 200 acres of productive farmland. He warned that farmers will lose their only source of income if the project moves ahead at the current location. According to him, development should not come at the cost of farmers’ lives and livelihoods.

Local residents have joined the protest in large numbers. Many say the land produces crops throughout the year and supports entire villages. They fear displacement and long-term economic hardship.

Opposition leaders have also backed the protest. They argue that the district has unused non-agricultural land where the Army camp can be built without harming farmers. A memorandum has been submitted to officials demanding a change in location.

Despite the objections, the administration has not announced any decision yet. Protesters say they will continue demonstrations until authorities listen to their concerns and protect agricultural land.
