The Kodha gang targets AC sleeper coaches as it shifts its crime strategy from roads to trains. Police say the gang now focuses on passengers traveling in AC and sleeper coaches, where people often carry valuables and remain less alert.
The Kodha gang targets AC sleeper coaches using planned tactics. Members first enter trains as normal passengers and closely watch travelers. They identify targets carrying cash, jewelry, or expensive items and inform other gang members.
Once the target is fixed, the gang acts either inside the coach or at stations. They steal bags, snatch valuables, or trick passengers with distractions. Their teamwork and coordination help them escape quickly without raising suspicion.
This gang, based in Bihar’s Katihar district, already operates across multiple states. Police have increased surveillance and launched operations to stop these crimes.
Authorities have advised passengers to stay alert and avoid sharing travel details with strangers.
