Krishna Water to Reach Kidney Disease-Hit Areas in NTR District by January-End
Krishna river water will be supplied to kidney disease-affected areas in NTR district by the end of January, District Collector G. Lakshmisha has said. He stated that the administration was expediting arrangements to ensure safe drinking water reaches villages suffering from chronic kidney disease of unknown aetiology (CKDu).
The Collector reviewed the progress of ongoing water supply works and directed officials to complete pipeline connections and related infrastructure within the stipulated timeframe. He said providing clean and treated water was a priority to reduce the health burden on affected communities.
Officials informed him that water would be drawn from the Krishna river and supplied through an integrated distribution network covering identified habitations. Temporary arrangements were also being made in some villages until permanent pipelines become operational.
Mr. Lakshmisha stressed the need for coordination among departments to avoid delays and ensure uninterrupted supply. He added that regular monitoring would be carried out to maintain water quality standards and address grievances promptly.
The initiative is expected to bring significant relief to residents of the affected areas in the district.
