Former Telangana Minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) launched a sharp attack on the Congress government, accusing it of sidelining the Muslim community in politics. Speaking at a campaign meeting, KTR pointed out that the present Congress government does not have even a single Muslim MLA or MLC. He alleged that former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin was misled by being labeled as an MLC “on paper,” only to be denied a proper opportunity to contest in the Jubilee Hills by-election.
KTR further criticized the government for mishandling Muslim community issues, citing the example of a burial ground allotted to Muslims in Shaikpet that was later taken over by the Army authorities.
He also questioned the government’s sincerity toward Backward Classes, remarking that its claim of providing 42% reservations was legally unsustainable. His remarks have intensified the political heat in the ongoing by-election campaign.
