Lakshmi Parvathi Alleges Naidu Is Using NTR’s Legacy for Diversionary Politics
YSR Congress Party leader Lakshmi Parvathi on Sunday accused Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of invoking the legacy of former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao (NTR) as a diversionary political tactic to deflect criticism of his government’s performance. She alleged that the repeated references to NTR were meant to shift public attention away from unfulfilled promises and policy failures.
Lakshmi Parvathi recalled that Mr. Naidu had promised in 2014 to install a statue of NTR in Vijayawada but had failed to fulfil the commitment even after more than a decade. Questioning the Chief Minister’s sincerity, she demanded that the State government formally recommend NTR’s name for the Bharat Ratna and take concrete steps to honour his legacy.
She also called upon the government to reverse certain policies that, according to her, went against the welfare-oriented vision championed by NTR. Mere symbolism and rhetoric, she said, could not substitute for genuine respect reflected through action.
