Patna:
The family turmoil inside the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) household intensified on Sunday as three more daughters of party chief Lalu Prasad Yadav — Rajlakshmi, Ragini, and Chanda — left the family’s Patna residence. The trio, accompanied by their children, was spotted at Patna airport before leaving for Delhi, marking a fresh twist in the widening Yadav family rift.
The development comes just a day after Rohini Acharya dramatically announced her exit from politics and publicly “disowned” her family following the RJD’s severe defeat in the 2025 Bihar assembly elections, where it secured only 25 seats. Rohini, a doctor who donated a kidney to her father, accused her brother Tejashwi Yadav of mistreatment and claimed she was made to feel like an “orphan.”
In a series of emotional posts on X, Rohini said her kidney donation — once highlighted as an act of devotion — was now being labelled “dirty.” She lamented that she committed a “huge sin” by prioritising politics and failing to care for her three children. She also alleged that she was abused, humiliated, and even threatened with a slipper inside the family home.
“Yesterday, a daughter and mother was humiliated… solely because I did not compromise on self-respect,” she wrote, adding that she left her crying parents and sisters behind due to unbearable circumstances.
While the rest of the Yadav family has remained silent on her allegations, Tej Pratap Yadav has strongly backed his sister. Tej Pratap — expelled earlier from the RJD and now heading his own outfit, the Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD) — warned the “Jaichands” inside the family, saying the insult to Rohini was intolerable and had “shaken him to the core.”
The unfolding crisis has cast a deep shadow over the RJD, already reeling from a massive electoral setback, and has now escalated into a full-blown public family feud.
