RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav said the Mahagathbandhan alliance would return to power in Bihar. He expressed strong confidence that his son Tejashwi Yadav would soon lead the state as Chief Minister.
Speaking to NDTV during his first campaign appearance, Lalu said the people’s verdict was clear. “We will form the government. Tejashwi Yadav will become the Chief Minister,” he declared.
After years away from active campaigning, Lalu has returned as the main strategist for the RJD-led alliance with Congress and the Left. He said local leaders were working hard and the people were showing huge support for Tejashwi.
Tejashwi is contesting from Raghopur in Vaishali district. His main challengers are BJP’s Satish Kumar and Jan Suraaj’s Chanchal Kumar.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi intensified his campaign in north Bihar. He accused the RJD of corruption and claimed Tejashwi was hiding his father’s “sins” by omitting Lalu’s image from posters. Modi also said both RJD and Congress were “controlled by corrupt families.”
