The land-for-jobs case took another turn on Wednesday as the court postponed the hearing again. The land-for-jobs case involves RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, his family members, and several other accused. The court delayed the proceedings because the CBI did not submit documents related to 103 accused persons.
The judge had earlier instructed the CBI to give a clear report on the status of every accused. Four of the 103 accused have already died. Since the CBI could not provide full details, the court decided to move the hearing to the next day.
On Monday, December 8, the CBI told the Delhi court that it needed more time to verify the records of many accused linked to the alleged scam. Special CBI Judge Vishal Gogane is examining whether enough evidence exists to frame charges.
The CBI has filed a chargesheet against Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi, Tejashwi Yadav, and others. It claims that Group-D railway jobs were given in exchange for land between 2004 and 2009. The agency also alleges that the land transfers involved benami properties and violated norms.
The accused have denied the charges and say the case is politically motivated.
